Shredders Gathering Around the Dummy Race Course at Schweitzer The weekend I shared with my dad was all I expected it to be…and more. We arrived in Sandpoint on Friday evening. We checked into our hotel and went out to get some dinner. We ate dinner at Slates Prime Time restaurant. It is right across the street from the Motel 6. They have great food and tons of choices of beer. After dinner we went back to the hotel to pass out early…we had wanted to catch first lift in the morning. We rode Saturday and Sunday. Skiing at Silver Mountain It was a Friday morning in Graham, Washington in 1994. My parents woke my brother and myself up while it was still dark so we could get an early start to our trip. My mom’s 1987 white Toyota 4-Runner was packed full of skis, poles, boots and other gear. My brother and I slept the first few hours of the car ride. After we woke we played several games of travel bingo to pass the time. I specifically remember the surroundings being just as boring as the drive to Pullman. Volcom’s PB and Rail Jam (After)

The Peanut Butter and Rail Jam is Volcom’s amateur snowboard contest series. The goal of the series is to give something back to the kids. Deviating from the normal way snowboard contests are run, Volcom came up with a fresh format. Instead of having three rails in a row, the rails are side by side to create a rail zone. This boosts the energy level and fun nature of the contest because everyone is together, riding, hiking, and watching in a big group. There are four divisions; 15 and under, 16 and over, Girls and Open (pro-am). The contest runs in a jam format so there are no scheduled runs.... [Read the full story]

Girls Day on the Mountain (After)

Misti and Clarissa came over to my house around six in the morning. We loaded up my car and headed for Crystal. There hadn’t been any new snow in the past week or so I was hoping that it wasn’t going to be too icy. However, the forecast for the day sounded good…it was supposed to be sunny and blue skies. Me Helping Misti Get Her Boots On We got up to Crystal, got all of our gear on and took the shuttle up to the lodge. Misti tried to fit in my size seven boots but she wears and size nine and it didn’t work out too well. So we had to go to the rental shop and get Misti some boots that fit.... [Read the full story]
